You have captured some personal truths about the ceremony. I have experienced this ceremony personally and I agree with your experience as my own. The medicine facilitates the opportunity for the spirit to let go from its physicalness and go to the spirit place which opens up your introspection as you mentioned. However, I do support the idea of using it as a “trip” which is not its intention. This would venture into the realm of abuse and then it can harm. At a point during my experiences, this ceremony was not for me, as I come to learn that one can facilitate the same phenomenon without aids. To get to this state requires discipline and focus. We have a natural ability to achieve this state.
